“Humanism is the only rational explanation of life. It simply requires us to live compassionate lives, treating others with fairness and respect. It involves us seeing the best in all around us.”

Jeremy McMullen retired as a judge after three careers, in October 2013. First he was a trade union officer, seeking to advance the rights of working people, for 11 years. Then he was counsel and a QC, representing all-comers but specialising in employment and discrimination rights. And in 2001 he became a judge in the specialist Employment Appeal Tribunal, Southwark Crown Court and the High Court.
