Academic and writer
Kate Pickett is professor of epidemiology at the University of York, and a National Institute for Health Research Career scientist. She co-founded the Equality Trust, a non-profit organisation seeking to explain the benefits of a more equal society, and is the co-author of The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better (read a review here - and if you buy it at Amazon.co.uk through this link a small commission will go to Humanists UK). She also writes on social issues in The Guardian.
