The perfect introduction to humanism

All we have is each other is a brand new film starring our President Janet Ellis, exploring the values that shape her humanist outlook: making sense of the world through reason and evidence, finding meaning in the one life we have, and living with kindness, empathy, and concern for others.

At a time when more and more people in the UK describe themselves as non-religious, humanism offers not just a way of thinking, but a community of people who share it – hundreds of thousands across the UK, living and working together towards a kinder, more rational world.

All we have is each other is aimed at reaching the many millions of people in the UK who already live by humanist values – such as reason, kindness, and compassion – but who may not yet know that there’s a word for it: humanism.

How humanist are you?

For many people, the term ‘humanist’ is simply a positive way of describing the values that they already have. It conveys a set of principles that humanists have in common, including attitudes towards science, democracy, equality, human rights, individual freedom, morality and ethics, society, and so much more.

In the UK, it’s estimated that roughly five million non-religious people already identify as humanists, and that 24 million non-religious people have humanist beliefs and values. Why not take our quick and fun quiz ‘How humanist are you?’ today!
