
Professor Kate Devlin, a leading expert on artificial intelligence and society from King’s College London, will join a panel discussion on AI and society at Humanists UK Convention 2025. The Convention will take place at the Octagon Centre in Sheffield from 13–15 June 2025.

Professor Devlin’s work explores the historical and future implications of how people interact with technology. With a background in archaeology and a PhD in computer science, she uniquely bridges the arts and sciences to analyse AI’s societal impact.
Kate leads King’s College London’s involvement in the £31 million Responsible AI UK programme. This UK Research and Innovation-funded initiative unites researchers to guide AI development for the benefit of society. Beyond her academic contributions, she is a board member of the Open Rights Group, advocating for digital rights, and since 2022, has served as a patron of Humanists UK. Professor Devlin also represents Humanists UK as a Commissioner for the AI, Faith & Civil Society Commission.

Humanists UK Convention 2025 will bring together humanists from across the country for a weekend of science, politics, culture, and comedy. The event will be held at the Octagon Centre in Sheffield from 13–15 June 2025.
