Professor Aradau is renowned for her work on the intersection of technology, security, and ethics. Her research delves into the complex ways in which AI systems can infringe on privacy, and challenge our understanding of human autonomy. With a background in international relations and political theory, Professor Aradau brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to the debate on AI governance. Her insights are particularly relevant in an age when AI is rapidly transforming various sectors of society, from healthcare and criminal justice to employment and social media.

Her latest book, Algorithmic Reason: The New Government of Self and Other (with Tobias Blanke) won the 2023 Best Book Award by the Science, Technology, and Arts in International Relations section of the International Studies Association.

Humanists UK Chief Executive Andrew Copson said:

‘We are thrilled to welcome Professor Aradau to our 2025 Convention. Her expertise on the ethical – and political – dimensions of AI is essential for our understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by this rapidly evolving technology. This panel discussion will be a crucial contribution to the Convention, furthering Humanists UK’s commitment to addressing the most pressing ethical issues of our time.’

Humanists UK Convention 2025 will bring together humanists from across the country for a weekend of science, politics, culture, and comedy.
