Our September walk will be on Saturday 19th September, meeting at 11:00, and starting and finishing at Portchester Precinct.
We meet outside Darcy's cafe (who do take away drinks) as it has a large outside seating area.
Transport to the precinct is very good with Portchester train station, bus stops and free parking all close by.
The walk is approximately 5 miles and will take in the historic Caste Street, with a range of buildings including traditional thatched cottages, ,Portchester Castle (which dates back to Roman times) and part of Portchester shoreline (using footpath or beach as people prefer). There are toilets, drinks, food & ice creams available at Portchester Castle (approx 1 mile in) then ditto @ the Salt Cafe which is a further 1.7 miles.and looks out on the Solent. They have a takeaway hatch for those not wishing to sit and take in the ambience !
After a break at the Salt Cafe we can retrace our steps to the precinct or walk approx 0.6 miles to White Hart Lane and get a short bus ride back to the precinct.
