Curious about humanism? | North Staffs Humanists

17 August 2026, 18:30 -- 20:30

An informal social giving us the chance to talk about humanism, as well as to explore what events people would enjoy going forward.

It's a "go with the flow" evening rather than a structured event, but will include a short video from our president Janet Ellis, some conversational icebreakers, and an opportunity to take part in a "Show and Tell" exercise shamelessly pinched from our sibling group in York.

Our Coordinator, Margaret, said: 'You are invited to bring along an object, poem, reading, or picture (or anything else that resonates with you) and talk about its importance to you and your beliefs. In the session I participated in, this ranged from a personalised mug to an original poem and everything in between! This is totally optional, but if you want to take part can you let me know beforehand so I can look at timings? Just reply to the event invitation with details, or email me directly at coordinator-northstaffs@humanistbranches.uk.'

Tea, coffee and water will be provided, and the hotel's bar is a few feet away for anyone who fancies something stronger. Please report to reception on arrival and they will direct you to our meeting room.

North Staffs Humanists is volunteer-run, and we are actively looking for people to help run future activities -maybe you could be just the person we're looking for! If you would like to know more, please come and have a chat with Margaret on the night, or let us know that you're interested by email to northstaffs@humanistbranches.uk.
