Education Day 2026
Our annual update and networking day for Humanists UK’s education networks is taking place, online, on Saturday 21 November from 10:00-16:30.
The Education Day is a dedicated day of free CPD for Humanists UK school speakers, SACRE/SAC reps, and other education volunteers and consultants. It’s a great chance to catch up on what’s been happening in Humanists UK’s education programmes this year, get updates on resources, projects, and campaigns, hear from a range of speakers, and connect with other network members in your area.
Along with updates and small group discussions, the day will feature an exciting lineup of sessions led by both internal and external speakers, including:
- Adele Chaplin, Humanist Celebrant and School Speaker, exploring how school speakers can best plan for requests for sessions on humanist ceremonies, and how these can be used creatively to support young people’s understanding of humanist values;
- Luke Donnellan, Head of Education at Humanists UK, sharing guidance on practical ways speakers can use game-based pedagogy to add variety and interactivity to school sessions, encouraging young people to engage actively in their learning about humanism;
- Bethan Fowler, Education Networks Manager at Humanists UK, examining how we can present core humanist values to young people clearly and accessibly, whilst maintaining depth and detail in our session content – exploring the ‘what’ but also the ‘why’ in school talks about humanism.
Sessions will be interactive and include opportunities for Q&A and/or discussion.
There will also be a selection of group discussion sessions looking at specific challenges, opportunities or areas for development relevant to our education networks, and how Humanists UK can support or assist.
The full programme for the day will be added shortly.
