Walk & talk | Portsmouth Humanists

We will meet outside the White Horse Inn, The Street, Sutton.
Unfortunately there is little public transport to Sutton, so car sharing may be a good idea – please keep an eye on the 'Portsmouth Humanists Walk & Talk' WhatsApp group for arrangements and any updates. Car parking is available in the Street and in the Village Hall car park opposite the pub.
The walk is approximately 8.85km or 5½ miles in total, starting in the lush, green Weald and climbing to chalk country at the top of the South Downs, where the views are magnificent (weather permitting). The total vertical climb is 230m/750ft. We will then walk along the tops until descending and returning to Sutton and an excellent pub, which will no doubt be very welcome.
Substantial walking boots are recommended for this one and, as there is no refreshment stop halfway round, it's a good idea to bring a bottle/flask and any snacks you may like. We can take a nice long break once we've reached the top of Bignor Hill, after which the most arduous section will be over!
There is a short-cut option a little over half way round for those who may find the whole route too challenging.
We look forward to seeing you for a special walk in good company.
All are welcome. Please register to let us know you are coming.
