Your family. Your friends. Your home. The community you have known all your life.

For some people, questioning or leaving a controlling religious environment can mean losing almost everything.

Faith to Faithless is there for people making that journey – helping them find support, rebuild their lives and discover that they do not have to face what comes next alone.

In a new BBC Radio 4 documentary, people who have left high-control religious communities described what happened when they began to question the beliefs that had shaped their lives.

For some, leaving changed relationships with family and lifelong friends. Others had to work out who they were outside a belief system that had once provided the answers to almost everything.

‘When the God disappeared, I did not know who I was anymore. All I know is just I know my name. But who am I? What am I supposed to think? What am I supposed to feel?’

That loneliness does not end the moment somebody leaves. Sometimes that is when the hardest part begins.

Faith to Faithless gives people somewhere to turn.

Through its helpline and wider support, it helps people who may be dealing with isolation, fractured relationships and the enormous task of rebuilding a life outside the religion they once knew.

Your donation will help make sure that when somebody takes that step, there is someone there to listen and support them.

Leaving can involve loss. But it can also mean freedom, discovery and learning to trust yourself.

Please help Faith to Faithless be there for more people as they begin that journey.
