Channel Islands Humanists has condemned the appearance of swastika graffiti and homophobic messages across St Helier in Jersey. The graffiti appeared on Friday in several locations around the capital.

Channel Islands Humanists’ Deputy Louise Doublet commented:

‘Humanists in Jersey wish to live as part of an island that celebrates diversity and treats all people with kindness, no matter what their race, ability, sexuality, or belief. I was shocked and disgusted to see the symbols and words that were graffitied – they do not reflect the spirit of our community at all. We must guard against hate speech and take this opportunity to reach out to people around us who may be feeling impacted by this incident.’
