Humanist Assembly | Leicester Humanists
Leicester Humanists is excited to announce our first Humanist Assembly: a special event where we'll gather to celebrate the one life we have, and to express, explore, and expand our humanism with others.
The team are working hard at putting together the final touches, and we'll be able to confirm the theme and speakers soon.
Everyone's welcome
This will be a fun, family friendly and accessible event. Whether you're a humanist, humanist-friendly, or just humanist-curious, you'll find a warm welcome. There will be a children's table available with some arts and craft activities.
What's involved?
At this Humanist Assembly, our Coordinator Nicole will be giving a talk on local humanist community organising, and our Events Officer Rory will be giving a talk titled ‘The Realm of Bohemia: What can we learn about community from Victorian Bohemians?’ There will be a children's table available with some humanist themed arts and craft activities.
Each Humanist Assembly will have a different theme, and different mix of activities. As a general guide, we will:
- Learn from members of our community about topics they're experts in,m and the exciting projects they are doing.
- Share our humanist perspectives
- Share poetry, readings or music which speak to our humanism and our humanity
- Join in with games and other activities to get to know each other
In future, we'll be asking community members to bring along food to share, and will be providing refreshments. As this is our first Humanist Assembly, we'll be meeting in the Café Bar afterwards.
Limited capacity
We've chosen our regular venue due to its familiarity and popularity for our first event. However, due to limited capacity in the Terrace Room, you must register to come along.
Our regular Humanist Social
We will be holding our regular coffee afternoon in the Café Bar, from 12:30, for attendees of the Humanist Assembly to continue socialising. You are also welcome to come along just for the social.
