Robbi Robson recognised for Distinguished Service to Humanism

9 August, 2014

Robbi Robson has been recognised for her Distinguished Service to Humanism, an award made annually by the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), at a ceremony in Oxford.

Robson was presented with the prize over dinner on the second day of the World Humanist Congress in Oxford. She joins the Bangladeshi blogger Asif Mohiuddin, women rights’ activist Gulalai Ismail and Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka in being honoured with special awards at the Congress.

Presenting the award, IHEU President Sonja Eggerickx warmly praised Robson’s lengthy and steadfast service to the humanist movement, recognising her invaluable practical contributions to IHEU from her induction as a board member in the 1990s through to the present day.

Eggerickx noted that whilst Robson ‘is not a well-known philosopher, nor a well-known scientist, she is a Humanist knowing what she is talking about, why she lives in a humanist way and why she thinks Humanism is positive in society’.
