BHA supports launch of ‘Humanists for a Better World’

19 April, 2011

The British Humanist Association (BHA) has welcomed the launch of Humanists for a Better World (H4BW), a new web-based interest group for UK-based humanists who wish to share information and take action on international, ethical and sustainability issues.

H4BW has been developed by volunteers to support humanists who wish to translate beliefs into actions on a range of issues including peace and international co-operation, global justice, climate change and the environment.

Through H4BW, humanists will be able to bring matters of concern to a wider audience, and to share information on campaigns and actions they might like to take, from letters and petitions to events and demonstrations.

Commenting on the launch, BHA Chief Executive Andrew Copson said: ‘We welcome the launch of H4BW as a resource for humanists who wish to inform and collaborate on a range of overlapping concerns, from human stewardship of our environmental resources to issues such as social justice.

‘The humanist perspective places a strong emphasis on personal responsibility for our actions and the importance of social co-operation, and we very much hope that Humanists for a Better World can build upon this tradition.’
