BHA celebrates a successful Group Representatives’ Annual Meeting

5 October, 2009

The BHA Group Representatives’ Annual Meeting (GRAM) 2009 took place on 3rd October with around half of the 90 affiliated humanist groups represented by one or two reps each.  The event is run every year to help increase opportunities for networking between humanist groups and allow group representatives to learn more about the BHA nationally.

The day had several speakers including Ian Abbott from Lancashire Secular Humanists, Ollie Killingback from Befordshire Humanists, Keith Denby from Devon Humanists and Lorraine Harding who is a BHA Local Development Volunteer.

There was also input from Hanne Stinson, BHA Chief Executive, who spoke about the work of the BHA in the last year and the BHA’s Membership and Web Manager Bob Churchill who encouraged groups to “think outside the membership  box” and presented the coveted BHA ‘group website of the year’ award to Suffolk Humanists and Secularists .

Pepper Harow, BHA Campaigns Officer, stated, “The BHA hugely values its relationship with local, student and special interest groups.  Their work means that Humanism is represented in many different local communities and university campuses and that people with similar interests can meet to discuss important issues.  The BHA is delighted that we can hold this annual event to celebrate their work and receive feedback about what we do.”
