The British Humanist Association (BHA) has today welcomed an increased interest in humanist funerals following the one for TV chef Keith Floyd which took place in Bristol this afternoon.
The BHA carries out over 7000 funerals each year through Humanist Ceremonies, its network of trained and accredited humanist celebrants.
Head of Ceremonies, Tana Wollen explained, “Non-religious people find a humanist funeral is the most appropriate way to say goodbye to someone who has died. At such an intense and emotional time it’s particularly important to maintain integrity with the deceased’s beliefs. Each funeral ceremony we do is specially tailored to the individual concerned, family and friends are consulted and involved and a life is fully celebrated and commemorated for its uniqueness and variety.”
