The BHA has today launched the second part of the Local Development Project. This project was set up in May 2007 with a government grant and has since grown to include over 150 volunteers who work in their local areas to raise the profile of Humanism in local equality and diversity work.
This second stage of the project includes the appointment of three representatives covering the government regions of the East of England, Yorkshire and Humber and the East Midlands. These volunteer posts will help the BHA keep in touch with other volunteers on the ground.
Pepper Harow, Local Campaigns Officer, said, “This is a big step for the BHA as we have never tried anything like this before. We aim to have a volunteer in each government region at some point, but these pilot projects are a great start. This should really help us to support our volunteers and keep in touch with local events.”
