The perfect introduction to humanism
Humanists make sense of the world through logic, reason, and evidence, and always seek to treat those around us with warmth, understanding, and respect.
That’s humanism explores some of life’s biggest questions from a humanist perspective – including how we find meaning, what makes something right or wrong, and how we can live well in the one life we know we have. It is aimed at reaching the many millions of people in the UK who already live by humanist values – such as reason, kindness, and compassion – but who may not yet know that there’s a word for it: humanism.

As part of this year’s That’s Humanism campaign, we’ve launched nine brand new posters designed to bring humanism to life. Each one answers a key question about the humanist approach to life—covering values, meaning, science, ethics, and more.
How humanist are you?
For many people, the term ‘humanist’ is simply a positive way of describing the values that they already have. It conveys a set of principles that humanists have in common, including attitudes towards science, democracy, equality, human rights, individual freedom, morality and ethics, society, and so much more.
In the UK, it’s estimated that roughly five million non-religious people already identify as humanists, and that 24 million non-religious people have humanist beliefs and values. Why not take our quick and fun quiz ‘How humanist are you?’ today!
