Come and join Liverpool Humanists, meet old friends and new, and enjoy a Sunday morning walk from the Waterfront to Chinatown, followed by a Chinese meal together.

Liverpool’s connection with China began in 1834 with the arrival of the first ships which brought silk and cotton to the city’s bustling docks. The presence of Chinese people in Liverpool steadily grew, largely fuelled by trade and maritime activities, establishing itself as the oldest Chinese community in Europe. Chinese sailors and merchants, attracted by the city’s booming port, brought their families to settle in the area.

As a nod to history, we will meet outside the Mersey Ferry Terminal (by the Beatles statue) and walk via Albert Dock to the Salthouse Dock archway. We'll cross Wapping, perhaps pausing for a short refreshment break in the Baltic Fleet pub, then on through the Baltic Triangle to Chinatown. We'll walk the length of Nelson Street to the Chinese arch before settling down for a modern Chinese lunch in Man Tsuen Ho's restaurant.
