Nottingham Humanist Heritage Trail | Nottingham Humanists

22 June 2025, 13:00 -- 15:00

Join us this coming June to explore a hidden history of humanism, secularism, and social progress in the heart of Nottingham.

This short walk will introduce Nottingham-born Susannah Wright's pioneering efforts for press freedom, the local meeting places and lecture halls which hosted giants of the secularist movement, and the places where passionate orators like Thomas Major Mosely and Frederick Douglass championed reason, compassion, and human rights. Discover the stories of famous names and those lesser known, as we walk in their footsteps, and uncover the legacy of reason and reform in the heart of the city.

Maddy Goodall, who gave an extremely interesting and insightful talk at the Launch Event earlier this year, will be joining us to share her in-depth knowledge on the subject too, so be sure not to miss it!
