Drawing on our natural capacity to be with death and dying | Exeter Humanists

With end-of-life care underfunded and overstretched, it's more important than ever that we understand how to care for people in our own communities. Dying is not just a medical event — it's a human one. It touches all of us. And we need to be equipped — practically, emotionally, and collectively in our own communities. Come and join Exeter Humanists for an interactive session to talk about:
- What an end of life doula does to support individuals and their close network
- Planning for end of life
- The Exeter Death Cafes and Grief Support Groups
Aly Dickinson is an end of life doula working in her community in Devon. She supports people, and those close to them, who are:
- approaching the end of life
- living with a terminal diagnosis
- managing chronic illness
- living with frailty
- or affected by dementia.
Her role is to walk alongside individuals and their close network with compassion, practical support, and a listening presence — helping them navigate choices, maintain dignity, and find meaning in life’s final chapter.
