Humanism and me: a group discussion in a safe space | Liverpool Humanists
22 January 2026, 19:00 -- 21:00
Our first meeting of 2026 is an opportunity to share our personal stories. Contributions from all will be welcomed, though not compulsory; if you prefer to listen to the stories of others as a way to deepen your understanding of humanism, that’s absolutely fine too. Some of our committee will act as facilitators, sharing their own stories to set a tone of openness and, hopefully, encouraging others to do the same.
We believe that sharing experiences will help individuals feel heard and understood, and reinforce that their feelings are valid. Participants often find common ground, reducing any feelings of isolation or loneliness. Also, discussing personal stories can be therapeutic, aiding in emotional processing and recovery.
We will establish guidelines together, to ensure everyone understands the importance of confidentiality, respect, and inclusivity. We aim to create and maintain a safe, non-judgmental space that is conducive to meaningful conversations and personal growth. We – like all humanists – do not tolerate aggression, harassment, or hate speech. We do hope that you will feel able to join us and help to build a stronger and more meaningful fellowship in our community.
This event is free, but donations are greatly appreciated and help with our running costs.
