Faith to Faithless with Yvonne Quaintrell | Truro Humanists (Online)
Join us for our monthly online meeting with guest speaker Yvonne Quaintrell from Humanists UK’s Faith to Faithless programme.
Yvonne will be talking about her personal and professional experiences in supporting people leaving high-control religions. She will discuss the needs of apostates and people who have experienced religious trauma.
Yvonne is a counselling and psychology teacher, and a qualified counsellor with a master's degree in psychology. She has been in private practice for 5 years, and for the last 2 years has worked specifically with clients who have experienced spiritual abuse/religious trauma. She is an approved counsellor for The Secular Therapy Project and a member of the BACP. Yvonne grew up in Northern Ireland and was brought up in an evangelical Pentecostal church. She left the religion in her early thirties having experienced spiritual abuse, and an emotionally and financially abusive marriage that she was coerced to stay in for 11 years. She has since worked with apostates from high-control groups within a range of religions such as Christianity, Islam, Jehovah's Witnesses and Judaism among others.
Our monthly online guest speaker meetings
There will be time at the beginning of the meeting for everyone to say hello, and for introductions, and there should be plenty of time for questions at the end.
Are you an apostate in need?
Our Faith to Faithless support programme is led by apostates, who have knowledge and experiences of apostate communities facing serious and systemic issues. You can find advice and support (including details of our free helpline) on our website.
