Building bridges and communities: humanist networking | Leeds Humanists (Online)

In this event, open to all humanists who want to learn about how we can engage with the world around us and spread the positive message of humanism, we will be looking at just some of the successes of members in Leeds and West Yorkshire.
We’ll hear from Hannah McKerchar who is the regional coordinator for our celebrant network, who will talk about what celebrants do and whether it might be for you. Hannah, along with Dermot Bolton, is also part of our Dialogue network and they will both be talking about what this involves and the positive impact this has across different communities. Dermot is also a member of one of West Yorkshire’s local Standing Advisory Councils on Religious Education (SACRE) along with Ian Harris, who will both share their experience of these and the importance of having a humanist representative on them. Ian will also be talking about his role as a school speaker and why it is such a rewarding activity to get involved in.
To finish off, Humanists UK Education Campaigns Manager Robert Cann will briefly talk about how we can deal with issues of religious selection in local schools, as well as other opportunities there are for having positive impacts on our local communities.
Whether you want to hear more about what Humanists UK members get up to or to get inspired about how you could get involved, we’d love for you to join us.
