Humanists UK last night announced its 2024 Convention, to take place in Cardiff over 14–16 June 2024, and Early Bird tickets are now running extremely low.
At the same time, Humanists UK announced the first six speakers in the Convention line-up, including physicist, oceanographer, and author Dr Helen Czerski, teacher and author Alom Shaha, theoretical physicist, author, broadcaster, and Humanists UK vice president Professor Jim Al-Khalili, neuroscientist and medical doctor Jonathan Illif, Humanist Heritage Coordinator Madeleine Goodall, and geneticist, author, broadcaster, and Humanists UK president Dr Adam Rutherford.
Over 30 scientists, campaigners, comedians, historians, and politicians spoke at the 2023 Convention, and so this opening line-up represents just a small fraction of what attendees can expect in Cardiff in June 2024, with more announcements in the coming weeks and months.
With Early Bird tickets now running extremely low, those interested in attending are encouraged to book their ticket now.
In advance of the main Convention, Humanist Professionals Conference makes a return in 2024. Taking place during the day on Friday 14 June, Humanist Professionals Conference will offer sessions for humanists doing work in their community – celebrants, school speakers, pastoral support volunteers, SACRE reps, section leaders, and more.
Humanists UK Chief Executive Andrew Copson said:
‘More than 100 years on from the disestablishment of the Church in Wales, tolerance and pluralism have taken root in this modern and confident nation. Today, Wales benefits from a devolved Assembly instituted as a secular body; an open, flourishing, and enriched civic sphere; and strong support for equality and human rights across all demographics, including the right to freedom of religion or belief. We cannot wait to bring our Convention to Cardiff in 2024.’
A limited number of Early Bird tickets went on sale on Wednesday 8 November at 18:00, and there are very few remaining. Book now.
