No child should be forced to take part in religious worship at school.

In Northern Ireland, schools are still legally required to hold daily acts of collective Christian worship – even in schools where the majority of pupils are not religious. This is outdated, unfair, and discriminatory.
Northern Ireland is a diverse society, with increasing numbers of non-religious people, as well as others from different faith backgrounds. Why should schools impose one religious practice on everyone? Education should be about learning, not compulsory worship.
We believe in freedom of religion and belief – including the right for children to decide for themselves about religion. Parents and children should have the right to a school experience that is inclusive and respectful of all beliefs.
We are a community standing up for a UK that values fairness, equality, and freedom of belief. Together, we’re calling for an end to mandatory collective worship in Northern Ireland schools.
