We have a real opportunity to finally remove the bishops from the House of Lords – but we need your support to make it happen. MPs from across the political spectrum have rallied to make amendments to the House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) Bill to remove the bishops, but we need to turn up the pressure.

The UK is alone among democratic sovereign states in having clerics vote on our laws – a hangover from 14th century medieval England. And it simply doesn’t reflect the country we are today. Recent opposition by the Church of England to same-sex marriage, and its leaders’ comments on abortion and assisted dying, highlight a values gap between the established church and an increasingly non-religious, diverse, and tolerant society. Enough is enough.
