Protest the House of Lords blocking the Assisted Dying Bill

A tiny minority of opponents in the House of Lords have succeeded in blocking the Assisted Dying Bill from becoming law before the end of the parliamentary session. We need to bring the Bill back, but in order to do so, we need to build momentous and unstoppable political pressure.
Dying people should have the right to choose a compassionate and dignified death. We need the Government to understand that they cannot ignore this issue – and we need to show that the majority of people are crying out for a change in the law. When you join us for this rally, you lend your voice to a cause that impacts thousands of people and their families. Together, we can change the law.
What to expect
We will be providing banners and placards. We will be joined by supporters from across the assisted dying movement. There will be photography and filming throughout the rally, so we need you to be loud, visible, and full of energy.
This will be a chance to come together, show public support, and demonstrate that attempts to block the Bill have only strengthened our resolve.
What to bring
- People: We need numbers. Politicians cannot ignore a movement this visible and determined. Please bring friends, family, and loved ones with you.
- Banners: We will be providing banners, but feel free to bring your own too.
- Energy: This is a crucial political moment. We need to make our presence felt.
What can I do?
Spread the word far and wide. Share the rally on social media. Message friends and family nearby. Email people who care about dignity and choice at the end of life. Encourage others to stand with us.
Every person who joins us helps show that public support for assisted dying cannot be silenced or pushed aside.
Why is Humanists UK supporting the Bill?
For nearly 100 years, we have supported the right of adults who are dying and suffering to have a compassionate death. We believe terminally ill people should have dignity, autonomy, and choice at the end of their lives.
This Bill is an important step towards a safer and more compassionate law. That is why we will keep campaigning until change is achieved.
