Wayne brings a wealth of experience and is very passionate about this topic. As well as delivering Pastoral Care, Wayne is also a Sector Coordinator and trainer with the Non Religious Pastoral Support Network (NRPSN).

Those at the NRPSN believe that equality of provision matters. People in need of support should be able to choose to speak to someone who shares their worldview. Until recently, public institutions (such as hospitals, hospices and prisons) have looked to people from religious communities to be the sole providers of this kind of service. With over half of British society now identifying as non-religious, they believe it should be a top priority for institutions to increase the number of non-religious carers within pastoral, spiritual and religious care departments, and therefore increase the availability of care in the form people want across all sectors and services.

The talk will explore the core tenets of Humanist and Existential approaches to care, focusing on meaning-making, integrity, and person-centred support in times of crisis. Crucially, Wayne will also touch upon the importance of exploring and understanding one's own humanist worldview and spirituality as a foundation for providing authentic and compassionate care to others.
