Come and join Exeter Humanists for a summer* walk this August. We’ll be walking along the coastal path from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren,  where we’ll stop for a picnic lunch before returning to Dawlish and heading home.

12:30     Lunch at Dawlish Warren

14:00     Return Walk to Dawlish

Outward Walk

We’ll meet at Dawlish Station and then walk along the sea wall to Dawlish Warren. The route is mostly flat with a small earthy/hilly section at the end of the beach (near the Red Rock) connecting the two paths. The walk is just under 2 miles, so we’ll arrive in Dawlish Warren around midday.

Picnic Lunch

If you’d prefer to skip the walk, then why not join us for lunch? We’ll be picnicking on the grassy area near the amusement park (because nobody actually wants sand in their sandwiches!). Bring food for yourself or to share. If you prefer, you can purchase food from one of the food outlets on site (please be aware that during the summer holidays, these are likely to be extremely busy and there may be a delay).

Further Options/Return Walk

We’ll look to end lunch around 14:00 whereupon you can choose your own adventure: explore Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, check out the amusement park, or simply journey home with a train direct from Dawlish Warren station. There will also be the option to join those of us walking back to Dawlish (the same route, in reverse).

* Please do check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. It’s always wise to prepare for rain and shine so water, suncream, hats, sunglasses as well as umbrellas and trench coats are all potentially viable options. 😊
