A Little Night of Humanism | Bangor Humanists

Registration is closed for this event
22 November 2023, 19:00 -- 21:00

More and more people are getting involved in humanism at a local level. Our membership has continued to surge, and many people, just like you, are keen to get involved and connect with the growing humanist community.

And so, we would like to invite you to the inaugural 'Bangor Humanists' information session at Bangor Drama Club. Registration is free, but essential.

The formation of Bangor Humanists is a response to the growing demand in the Ards and North Down area for a localised section of Northern Ireland Humanists. Community lies at the heart of our mission, and our aim is to cultivate a diverse group that truly grasps the needs of the local community.

This is a great opportunity to meet other members of the local humanist community and to find out how you can help shape the future of humanism in Ards and North Down.

We will also have several key speakers from Northern Ireland Humanists who will talk about our achievements, the challenges we still face, and the work we do day in, day out, in our communities.

Below is a sneak peek of what you can expect on the night!

  • Activism
    • Boyd Sleator, Northern Ireland Humanists Coordinator, who will speak about our ongoing work to challenge blasphemy laws and champion a secular educational system
  • Ceremonies
    • Laura Lacole, camapigner and model will speak about how she and her husband took the court case that paved the way for legal humanist ceremonies
  • Pastoral Care
    • Pippa Swan, Northern Ireland Humanists pastoral care lead will discuss her work in Maghaberry Prison
  • History
    • Iain Deboys, Northern Ireland Humanists Heritage lead, will tell us about the history of humanism in Bangor, and further afield

We hope we'll see you there. Please register your place.
