Humanists UK has relaunched its online course Introducing humanism: non-religious approaches to life. The popular course is led by writer and broadcaster Sandi Toksvig and features humanist philosophers, campaigners, and members of the public. Broken into six parts, the course provides an introduction to humanist perspectives on human nature, knowledge, meaning, and morality. It’s a fantastic way to discover more about the non-religious worldviews held by millions of people living in the UK and around the world today.
Originally launched in 2018, thousands of learners engaged with the course and left positive feedback on the experience. The refreshed course has been relocated to Humanists UK’s own servers in order to keep it free to access for everyone who wants to learn about humanism, after the previous provider introduced fees to their service.
Humanism is a non-religious, ethical approach to life shared by millions of people around the world. Humanists believe that this life is the only life we have, that the universe is a natural phenomenon with no supernatural side, and that we can live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. However, there is widespread misunderstanding about what it means to be a humanist or to live a life without a religion. On the course, learners will discover more about humanist beliefs and values, how humanists attempt to answer life’s big questions, and why so many people today align themselves with this approach to life.

Director of Understanding Humanism Luke Donnellan said:
‘We are delighted that the course is available once again as it has always been one of our most popular resources. We’ve had positive feedback from people new to humanism, people who already identify as humanist but want to learn more, and from religious people seeking to better understand people with alternative worldviews.
‘We hope that the course will help many more people to engage with the big questions at the heart of humanism about what it means to lead a positive, ethical, and meaningful life.’
