The BHA has welcomed the launch of the newest national Humanist group: Allianz vun Humanisten, Atheisten an Agnostiker Lëtzebuerg (AHA), which aims to promote humanist campaigns and ceremonies in Luxembourg, with AHA president Dr. Laurent Schley stating that he and his board want ‘to generate respect for the non-religious way of life’.
AHA was created in May 2010, but has spent the last five months building up their organisation, with support of the International Humanist and Ethical Union, to which the BHA is affiliated, and the BHA itself.
Welcoming the launch, BHA Chief Executive Andrew Copson said, ‘The humanist view of life is progressive and positive and associations that support and promote this view are vital all over the world. They don’t just give non-religious people the chance to feel supported, and to realise that their own worldview is coherent, credible, fulfilling and ethical, they also make an enormous contribution to wider society. I wish the Allianz vun Humanisten, Atheisten an Agnostiker Lëtzebuerg many years of success and look forward to working with them in our common cause across Europe and the world.’
