'The People's Emergency Briefing' screening | Nottingham Humanists

07 November 2026, 13:45 -- 16:00

Nottingham Humanists are hosting a screening of The People's Emergency Briefing. The film follows the November 2025 National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster for politicians and decision-makers. Leading scientists and experts presented evidence on the impact of climate and nature breakdown on health, food systems, national security and the economy. Those briefings have now been condensed into a one-hour film hosted by Chris Packham to alert the public to the dangers of climate change and raise awareness about the things people can do to make a differnece.

If you care about your children, soaring temperatures, air pollution and the environment, then you might want to watch this.

Following the film there will be a discussion in which we can reflect on what we've watched and share ideas on how we can make a difference. This would be a great event to invite friends, family, neighbours or colleagues to, particularly if they might not normally attend something focused on climate change. We’d be delighted if our discussion could reach beyond the converted and help engage people who may have questions and reservations but are open to learning more.

This is among the more expensive events we've attempted to run as a local group, so any donations toward the running of Nottingham Humanists are warmly received and appreciated as they help to ensure we can put on more ambitious events like this in the future.
