'Religion, belief - and talking to each other' with Jeremy Rodell | Oxford Humanists
Twenty-first century Britain is both less religious, and more diverse in terms of religion or belief, than it has ever been before. Please join us to learn more about this landscape and discuss why humanist and religious dialogue matters.
Our monthly Oxford Humanists Speaker Programme, held on the second Tuesday of each month. We expect to get close to venue capacity so please register to hold your place!
Our January Talk: Religion, belief - and talking to each other'
Twenty-first century Britain is both less religious, and more diverse in terms of religion or belief, than it has ever been before. But what are the facts about our religion and belief landscape? Why should humanists want to engage with religious people? What approach to dialogue works? That's what we'll explore this evening. Do come along. It's interesting - and sometimes surprising - stuff.
Our Speaker: Jeremy Rodell is Dialogue Officer at Humanists UK, and Chair of South West London Humanists. He's also a Humanists UK School Speaker, the humanist rep on Hounslow SACRE, and Vice Chair of Richmond Faith and Belief Forum.
We are thrilled to host Jeremy in Oxford as our first speaker of the yaer and we hope you'll register and donate to join us for what promises to be a fascinating and thought-provoking way to kick-off our 2025 speaker programme. This event is free to join, however we do request registration to help us manage numbers with the venue and, as always, your donations support our running costs.
Not sure if this is for you or have questions about the event? Please get in touch with Andrew, our Events Manager; we'd love to hear from you at events-oxford@humanistbranches.uk. For those interested in joining us for dinner directly following Jeremy's talk, we will book tables next door at Lulu's Ethiopian and Eritrean Cafe - send us an email to signal your interest!
More about the Venue: The Community Works will be open by 18:15 on the night. Please access the venue via the well-lit accessible alley just to the left of 1 Becket Street. If the weather is chilly, we do recommend bringing an extra layer.
We hope to see you there!
