May social | Haywards Heath Humanists
Come along for a friendly chat about humanism over coffee and maybe a board game or two.
Whether you're a humanist, humanist-friendly, or just humanist-curious, you're very welcome to join our monthly socials. They’re the ideal opportunity to meet like-minded folks in a welcoming environment. If you're new to humanism or wish to simply learn more, this is a great place to chat things over.
We hope to see you there.
Discussion topics
We have no formal agenda or speakers for our socials. Just come along, say hello and join the conversation! You may want to ask about our progress setting up the Local Group and share your own ideas, or pick a few board games from the cafe’s selection.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We may mark the occasion with some green ribbon decorations at our tables. We could take this opportunity to welcome any members of our community dealing with mental health issues and discuss the role of humanist communities in offering support. We’re also meeting on the eve of the International Day of Families, and could take the opportunity to discuss how our humanist communities can be more family friendly.
About the venue
Dice and Drinks is a welcoming community-minded games cafe in the heart of the high street, just opposite the library. They serve tea, coffee and other drinks and snacks. During the winter months, this cafe can get quite cold, so dressing warm is recommended. Three bus stops, Burgess Hill train station and five public car parks are all within 5 minutes walk. The library next door has a children’s story time from 10:30 – 11:00 on Wednesdays if you want to combine your trip to the high street with another family-friendly activity.
Donations
Attending our socials is completely free, and you shouldn’t feel any pressure or obligation to donate. However, we do greatly appreciate anyone who can chip in £5 or more to help towards the table hire and our other operating costs, as well as helping us develop future events and activities. Registration is strongly encouraged to help us predict numbers.
