Loose Cannons | Liverpool Humanists
Join us in the Denbigh Castle public house, Liverpool, for an illustrated talk about some of history's most dramatic, challenging and determined freethinking humanists. Based on cartoonist and graphic novelist Polyp's forthcoming new book, co-written with Humanists UK historian Madeleine Goodall, it's a cheeky, surprising, riveting, warts and all collection of short, lively biographies. Some are household names - some deserving to be rediscovered - and all of them shook their worlds.
Polyp is a professional cartoonist, graphic novelist and science educator. His recent works include Paine, Peterloo (about the infamous Manchester massacre of 1819) and thINK, a collection of his skepticism cartoons. Maddy has recently launched the new Humanists UK podcast Unholy Histories.
This is a free public event; however, we will ask for a voluntary donation (suggested £5-10) to offset our costs for this and future events. We stress that this is voluntary.
We will gather in the Basement Room at 19:00 for a 19:30 start to Polyp's lecture. We're excited to try out what will be a brand new venue for us.
