Humanism in Yorkshire is thriving, with three local Humanists UK branches organising events, building community, and advancing our campaigning aims. Leeds Humanists, Sheffield Humanists, and York Humanists are joining forces for a special online event about Humanists UK’s service Faith to Faithless, which helps people who have left high- control religions or cults.
We’ll be hearing from Joy Cranham, a volunteer at Faith to Faithless and herself an ‘apostate’, who will explore the challenges facing those who leave controlling religions and the work she does to oppose this abuse and support those who have suffered it. ‘Apostates’ risk homelessness, physical and mental abuse, and so-called ‘honour killings’.
