Hoaxes, Myths and Lies - moon landing conspiracy theories | Cardiff Humanists
The Moon landings were one of the greatest achievements in human history - but a worrying number of people in the modern age insist they were faked. What possible reasoning could they use to make this claim? This talk examines the arguments and why they're wrong. But there's a broader set of questions - where do these mad theories come from? How do they persist? And why should we absolutely not humour them and treat them as harmless...for they are anything but harmless.
Join us and our very special guest, Phil Wallace from the Astronomical Society. A warm welcome to all. Join us at Porters after the meeting for a post-meeting catch-up.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Phill Wallace JP FRAS developed his obsession with astronomy and spaceflight at a young age, courtesy of an encyclopedia his grandmother bought. Since then, his passion has bubbled along through an Astronomy degree, a relentless series of outreach efforts, and ten years as Chair of Cardiff Astronomical Society. In his limited spare time from the wider universe, he is a typical civil servant, history enthusiast, Magistrate and board games enthusiast.
