Beyond Bradlaugh: Northampton's radical humanist history | Northampton Humanists (official launch)

27 March 2025, 18:30 -- 21:00

Please join us for a fascinating talk on the radical humanist history of Northampton, given by Maddy Goodall, Humanists UK's Heritage Coordinator, and help us to celebrate Northampton Humanists' official launch as a Local Group.

Maddy Goodall coordinates the Humanist Heritage Project, which aims to bring to life an often overlooked but historically influential aspect of our heritage – humanism and the impact it has had locally and nationally on art, literature, and social, political, and ethical culture throughout UK history.

Beyond Bradlaugh: Northampton's radical humanist history

Northamptonshire had its fair share of political radicalism - including secular societies and ethical societies. Maddy will conduct a deep dive in the movers and shakers that have defined the local history in Northampton and its democratic radical traditions!

In addition to our main talk, this will be a celebration of the launch of our new Local Group and a chance to meet other like-minded folks, or simply join the local community in insightful conversation on the subject.

The event starts at 19:00 sharp, so it's well worth joining us at 18:30. If you'd like to, feel free to make use of the refreshment facilities before our event begins.
