April Social and Soap Box | York Humanists

09 April 2025, 19:00 -- 21:00

Are you passionate about discussing big ideas? Do you enjoy lively debates and meeting like-minded individuals? Are there things that frustrate you about modern society, or alternatively inspire and give you hope from a humanist perspective? Then come along to our York Humanists Social & Soap Box Event at the Duke of York in Kings Square.

This informal yet engaging event brings together people interested in humanism, philosophy, and society to discuss various topics in an open and welcoming environment. Whether you're keen to take centre stage, or reflect quietly on the topics raised with like-minded people, this event is for you!

What to expect:

Soap Box Sessions: Take the floor and speak about an idea or cause that matters to you! Everyone is welcome to share their thoughts, questions, or opinions on topics related to humanism, ethics, and life in the modern world.

Great Conversation: Enjoy stimulating discussions in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Social Networking: Meet new friends, build connections, and be part of a community that values reason, compassion, and justice.

Whether you're a humanist, a skeptic, or simply curious, come and join the conversation. Let’s explore life’s big questions together!

At a new venue this month - the Duke of York in King's Square. Just a short walk from Stonebow, where there is limited on-road parking, or the 24-hour Q-Park Shambles, YO1 7NZ.

The event is free to attend, but if you are able to make a small donation this really helps us to put on more events like this in the future. Hope to see you there.
