About Nick Cohen
Nick Cohen is a radical and sometimes controversial British journalist, political commentator and author. A columnist for the Observer, he also occasionally writes for Time, the Spectator, Standpoint, and New Humanist. He has written a number of books, including Cruel Britannia (1999), What's Left? (2007), which argues that the liberal left of the 20th century came to support the far right of the 21st century, Waiting for the Etonians (2009) and You Can't Read This Book (2012), on censorship.
About Shappi Khorsandi
The Voltaire Lecture is always chaired by the President of the BHA, currently author and comedian Shappi Khorsandi. Shappi is the author of two books, her memoir, A Beginner's Guide to Acting English, and the critically acclaimed novel Nina is Not OK. A celebrated comedian, Shappi makes regular appearances on TV and radio, and has appeared on programmes such as Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Have I Got News for You, Question Time, and QI.
