Help us take urgent action

You may recall that before the election was called, the UK Government was proposing to increase religious discrimination in state schools by scrapping the 50% cap. Here’s some shocking news: in spite of the election, the consultation is still going ahead. So we need you to respond to tell the next Government why the plans are wrong.

Respond to the consultation

The consultation is due to close on 20 June. These plans made it into the Conservative manifesto so they’re certainly still committed to them. And if you’re hoping Labour will be better on this, don’t be so sure; last year Keir Starmer said Labour in power would be ‘even more supportive of faith schools’ than recent Conservative governments. So it’s vital that you respond today and send a clear message to the next Government that these plans should be abandoned.

stop these plans today
Scrapping the 50% cap will allow all new and existing state-funded faith schools to base 100% of pupil admissions on religion. The plan would also create religious schools for children with special needs. This plan is reckless. It will propel racial segregation, increase division in our society, and must be stopped.
