Society is waking up!

We need a compassionate assisted dying law.

For over a century, we have campaigned for compassionate reform on assisted dying. And our campaign – centred on the freedom of choice for terminally ill or incurably suffering people – is more than a policy initiative, it is a reflection of our humanist values: empathy, freedom, and personal autonomy.

You’ve probably noticed it – it’s been in the news a lot lately. And it’s not just us: an incredible number of people are saying it loud and clear: end the inhumanity, suffering, and heartbreak that the current law creates.

Many of us have been there, feeling a mix of love, sadness, anger, and frustration. But sharing these deeply personal experiences is pushing the conversation forward – catching the attention of politicians, celebrities, medical professionals, and, most importantly, the UK public. Society is waking up to the fact that, despite the best end-of-life care, this is an issue that can affect any one of us.

Write to your MP

Write to your MP, requesting their attendance at the upcoming All-Party Parliamentary Humanist Group (APPHG) AGM on assisted dying. We aim to have a strong MP turnout to address the unacceptable situation in the UK and your action in writing to your MP can make a significant impact. This meeting will discuss the progress of assisted dying legislation across the British Isles and the Channel Islands. It’s vital that we get as many MPs to attend to create a bigger impact and ensure a compassionate change in the law.

Personalise your impact

While we provide a template, personalising your message makes it stand out. Share why this matters to you; personal stories resonate more with MPs.

Stay connected

After contacting your MP, let us know at campaigns@humanists.uk if they confirm their attendance. Your involvement is a crucial part of this journey towards change.
