Stand against Christian Nationalism and religious extremism

It’s time to nail your flag to the mast – defend the principles of tolerance, democracy, and human rights.

Across the UK, extremist movements are working to fuse religion with politics. Christian Nationalism is a rapidly growing example, thanks in part to funding from big American organisations linked to Donald Trump.

Although it remains a fringe political movement opposed by most mainstream Christians, Christian Nationalists are wealthy and powerful – with friends in high places. They are lobbying for laws and policies rooted in dogma, division, and scripture.

The Christian Nationalist movement sees its enemies as women’s rights, LGBT+ equality, and freedom of belief. If not guarded against, it risks dragging us backwards to a society where intolerance rules and shared liberal values are undermined.

In a world where people have growing concerns about religious identity politics and religious violence, Christian Nationalists are attempting to present a dangerous and false choice to the public: that their brand of religious politics is the only defence against other extremisms.

But fanaticism cannot be defeated with more fanaticism. The answer is a robust secularism that protects the rights of everyone, of all faiths and none.

At Humanists UK, we believe this is the moment to nail your flag to the mast. By standing with us, you are saying clearly:

I will stand for a rational, inclusive society

I will not let extremism define our future

I will defend tolerance, equality, and compassion

The voices of extremists are loud. Together, we can be louder. Add your name today and show that you stand against Christian Nationalism and all forms of religious extremism.

Thanks for adding your name. Will you help us stand up for secular, inclusive education for all?

Humanists UK is the charity working for a tolerant world where rational thinking and kindness prevail, and where everyone’s right to freedom of choice, thought, belief, and expression is protected in law.
