People and Planet calling students

23 July, 2014

Humanist students and student groups are invited to support People and Planet (“Student action on world poverty and the environment”) by joining the Fossil-Free campaign and persuading your institution to stop investing in fossil fuels:

“The divestment movement in the Church began when decisions to divest were taken by member churches in different parts of the world. This shows the massive impact that small scale divestment campaigns like the ones we are running can have on global bodies. Our schools, colleges and universities should follow their lead rather than profit from wrecking the climate. The Fossil Free campaign is moving even faster than previous tobacco and apartheid divestment campaigns. Let’s celebrate this victory, then get back out there and take on the fossil fuel industry, through our individual campaigns and in our united struggle.”
