From Stop Climate Chaos:
The UK floods are a powerful opportunity to demonstrate that climate change is here, now, in Europe and our decision-makers need to take ambitious action – to combat the causes of climate change and help communities adapt to the impacts we are already seeing.
Connecting flooding and climate change:
There was a notable absence of climate change in the media coverage, until the Met Office intervention this weekend which stated that “all the available evidence suggests there is a link to climate change”. Caroline Spelman and Ed Miliband have now both come out making the link between climate change and increased risk of flooding. COIN’s great stunt in Oxford has helped connect the dots too.
David Cameron has been quick to reassert his commitment to climate change, but slow to criticise sceptics within his own party and is focused on flooding relief.
This GCCA Tree Alert is a great round-up of the political context and latest news.
