London event for ZERO CARBON BRITAIN DAY, 21 July

8 July, 2012

RACE TO ZERO (CARBON by 2030!), 12 noon, Saturday 21st July at Euston Square Gardens (in front of Euston Station)

Didn’t make the Olympic team ? Take part in Campaign against Climate Change Zero Carbon Games!  In every case the finishing line will be “Zero Carbon by 2030″  – but we will be holding a variety of races and events where you can have fun competing with others …”planet in a teaspoon race”,  three legged (“partnership for de-carbonisation”) race etc… Jump the hurdles of government inaction, corporate lobbying, fracking mania etc… Dodge the ambushes from ExxonMobil, the Koch brothers etc…along your route to Zero Carbon !

After the Games we will be holding our medal ceremony – at Old Palace Yard outside Parliament where we will be taking our message for Zero Carbon by 2030. Medals will be awarded for the races … and also for worst emitter, most obnoxious denier, most obstructive government minister ..etc..etc…

Timetable for Day:
– 12.00 noon Zero Carbon Games start at Euston Gardens
– 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm lunch break
– 2.30 End of Games
– 3.00 to 4.30 Medal Ceremony at Old Palace Yard

If you would like to take part in the races please let us know. Or just come as a spectator- this will be a family-friendly fun event with a serious message… If you’re really keen to help come to our Planning Meeting, 6.45 pm, Monday 16th at Housemans, see http://www.campaigncc.org/node/1245.

Finally – if you havent already done so – write to your MP to sign the CLIMATE EMERGENCY EDM (EDM 303) which calls for (amongst other things) a Zero Carbon Britian by 2030 – and has recently been retabled by John Mcdonnell MP

Meanwhile, keep an eye on www.campaigncc.org for more details.
