An experienced humanist celebrant based near Chester, I love being involved in creating and delivering Naming Ceremonies.
Bringing people together to celebrate new life, new beginnings, they can be held almost literally anywhere including in your home, garden, outside in a public space, a community hall, a public house.
Relaxed yet also uplifting, these ceremonies are joyful and optimistic - full of meaning.
What I do
I help you structure, write and deliver a ceremony that you will enjoy, that conveys something of your love for your child or whoever is at the centre of the ceremony.
I would need to meet with you to discuss the ceremony and learn something about the person (s) who will be named at the ceremony – ideally I’ll meet them too!
At our meeting I’ll ask lots of questions to understand the sort of ceremony you would like - suggest ideas and take lots of notes. We can discuss what role you would like me to play – I can conduct the whole ceremony for you or work besides other people – family/friends who want to be involved, guide-parents. We can consider the inclusion of symbolic actions, poems and readings.
We can share something of the person’s story (however new that story is!) – how they came to be and how they’ve developed – perhaps consider your hopes for their futures.
After our meeting, I’ll write a ceremony script for you which I’ll share before the day to make sure you’re happy with it.
Together we will ensure that the ceremony will be filled with joy and reflect your personalities, hopes and aspirations.
About Me
I’m passionate and enthusiastic about life and people. I genuinely believe that we’re all connected in some way to each other and ultimately to all life.
My partner, children and their families and latterly grandchildren too, always help remind me how lucky I am to have them in my life!
I’ve had a varied working life – working with folk in industrial, professional, commercial, care and charitable settings.
I enjoy art, reading and writing, music, gardening, walking and travel. I’ve helped create and deliver courses and presentations for schools and other organisations to help look at life and living.
My work as a celebrant allows me to meet so many people and be involved in some aspect of their lives in one way or another - learn of other’s lives – share emotions. I always gain something from meeting others - hopefully I get to help people myself in some small way.
