Hi, I'm Peter

An experienced humanist celebrant based near Chester, I relish being involved in ceremonies celebrating love.

Whether your relationship is new or if you have been together for some time, your Wedding, Vow Renewal or Commitment Ceremony is about your love and commitment to each other - they can be held practically anywhere.

My “way” is to work with you and really try and reflect your individual and melded personalities and values and help you express yourselves and share your feelings for each other with your guests.

With a casual relaxed approach, I’d like to meet with you both, learn something of your story and understand what sort of celebration you are looking for. I’ll use my experience to help you consider ways to achieve the feeling you would like. Together we can weave a ceremony that is memorable, full of meaning and emotion and fun!

We can discuss the inclusion of music, poetry or readings, how others get involved, your vows to each other and what symbolic actions you’d like to include. All the while we’ll look to ensure your celebration is warm, intimate, meaningful and fun.

There are no rules - your ceremony can be tailored to truly reflect who you are. Your ceremony might be short or long, follow quite a traditional structure or forge a different path.

I'll write a script for your ceremony and share this with you to make sure you are happy with everything. I'll lead your ceremony on the day, liaising with others who play a part and try and ensure you enjoy it as much as your guests.

About Me

I’m passionate and enthusiastic about life and people. I genuinely believe that we’re all connected in some way to each other and ultimately to all life.

My partner, children and their families and latterly grandchildren too, always help remind me how lucky I am to have them in my life!

I’ve had a varied working life – working with folk in industrial, professional, commercial, care and charitable settings.

I enjoy art, reading and writing, music, gardening, walking and travel. I’ve helped create and deliver courses and presentations for schools and other organisations to help look at life and living.

My work as a celebrant allows me to meet so many people and be involved in some aspect of their lives in one way or another - learn of other’s lives – share emotions. I always gain something from meeting others - hopefully I get to help people myself in some small way.

We chose Peter to be our celebrant at our humanist wedding as we wanted a non-religious ceremony. We knew he was right for us as soon as we met him; he was warm, friendly and had a kind face. Peter took his time getting to know us and what we wanted from our ceremony, meeting with us in person and online several times, he made us feel comfortable each step of the way. He had many ideas for our ceremony, of which we picked a few.

On the day, Peter led us through the ceremony with grace, beautiful words, good humour and fun. He did a hand fastening for us, which everyone loved as they had not seen it done before. We absolutely picked the right person for our ceremony and would highly recommend Peter.

What can we both say, Peter went above and beyond for us both and the first phonecall with himself, he put us both at ease straight away, ... Peter not only came to visit us a few times he kept in contact with us both, keeping us at ease all through the process and wedding planning. Any questions we had Peter was always on hand to be there for us both and presented our ceremony beautifully we wanted it quirky and not serious and everybody absolutely loved it. Some of my relatives had never seen a handfasting before or jumping of the broom. So it was nice to get what we believed in across to our families, I think there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. And we’ve come away with not only a celebrant who performed our ceremony but a friend. We are both pleased we chose Peter for our celebrant it made our day just perfect for us.
